You have come to a world without hate, without fear, without conflict. No war, no disease, no crime. None of the ancient evils. Landru seeks tranquillity. Peace for all. The universal good

This year's edition of the traditional post, odometer honest:
Sixty-four today, this guy. When we met in 5th grade fifty-four years ago neither of us predicted the weirdest year of our lives would be 2024.
Always this: thirty-one years ago Landru was the first human not L or me or a doctor/nurse to hold C.

2/recently a dutch documentary television program about Jem Bendell was posted on YouTube

he stated that the title of his recent book is a double entendre

one sense of "breaking together" is that as modern societies collapse the failure or partial failure of one system will ripple out and cause other functionalities to deteriorate as well

the other sense is that people will have the opportunity and in many cases the inclination to be more supportive to each other as we face the challenges that are coming - whether new allies or lifelong friends

    Book blurb:

The collapse of modern societies has begun. That is the conclusion of two years of research by the interdisciplinary team behind Breaking Together.

How did it come to this? Because monetary systems caused us to harm each other and nature to such an extent it broke the foundations of our societies. So what should we do? This audiobook describes people allowing the full pain of our predicament to liberate them into living more courageously and creatively. They demonstrate we can be breaking together, not apart, in this era of collapse.

Jem Bendell argues that reclaiming our freedoms is essential to soften the fall and regenerate the natural world. Escaping the efforts of panicking elites, we can advance an ecolibertarian agenda for both politics and practical action in a broken world.
